Planar Box-Elements on freeform surface

Hello Guys, 

I have to design a ice-pavillon in sweden. I want to make a more organic surface and so i have to find a way to find a way to create this pavillon out of some simple polygonal or hexagonal or triangual "ice-boxes". 

I have to create the casing for these ice-blocks in vienna. So the number of casings is limited. I thought about 3-7 different casings. 

I tried to use paneling-tool and kangaroo but i have no idea how to consider the thickness of the boxes that they fit together. 

Is there a way to generate a the freeform surface and let the 3-7 boxes approach to fit this surface?
