Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I have been doing a lot with blocks in grasshopper using C#, but one thing I cant seem to do is modify an existing block's geometry without deleting the block and recreating it with the modified geometry..  This gets fairly involved when you have nested blocks.  

Is there an efficient method to add or remove objects in a block definition?  (InstanceDefinition)

Any help is appreciated!
