A few days ago I discovered the interesting Meissner effect and tried to get this kind of behaviour in grasshopper.
The main idea is basically inspired on a set of Nurbs influenced by an ellipsoid which is used to model some differentiated openings in the line patterns, long & narrow, small & round, short & wide, based on the shape of the ellipsoid with adjustable values x & y.
I have been searching for days to get this interesting principle translated on a freeform surface, but it didn't work out. I tried rearranging the division POINTS of an array of circle curves, placing a graph mapper, using point attractors, influencing u and v values, but none succeeded. Maybe I have to give it another turn and stop manipulating the points but the curves instead?
Does anyone have a suggestion how to do this?
