Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

This is a fairly straight forward question, is there a way to maintain objects original layer placement when baking ?

I am moving a series of objects around with grasshopper and would like for them to keep their original layer placement ?

There are custom baking components and components that can extract object attributes (including the original layer) so you need to extract the layer in front and bake it back at the end.

Have a look at Horster Reference Elefront, Scarab can bake but not read attributes. There are others, I cannot remember right now.

Thanks ! I have been too bad at keeping my self up to date with new plugins for grasshopper... However I fixed in a very tedious way for now, but goo to know for future reference

You could also use the rhinoscript's "ObjectLayer()" function to retrieve the layers of original Rhino referenced geometry:

Human also has some good ones that will let you bring in references like layer, object color, material, ect.
