Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

Does any of you know a way to create inner offsets (black) of a closed curve (red) as shown in the attached picture in grasshopper? Just did this manually in Rhino by clicking on different parts of the curve when offsetting.

Thanks very much in advance,

Oliver

Simplest way I know is to just use Offset component (Curve>Util>Offset) in conjunction with Series.

Offsetting tends not to work very well when the offset results in multiple closed regions. Arend posted an offsetting plugin here a while ago that uses the Clipper library. You may have to use that to get a satisfactory result.

Great, that's it.  Thanks David, thanks Arend!

Also thanks to you, Krist, but yes, the problem was to get these multiple closed regions from one curve.

No problem, let me know, how it works out or if you run into problems!

Hi Arend,

Thanks, worked out very well. Could manage to create cnc paths for a large landscape model. needed the offsets to clear areas between layers of the model.

Think in general, your tool might have great potential to become toolpath generator for cnc machining. Maybe next plugin...? :-)

Nice, would be interested to see the result!

Shouldn't be too hard to generate toolpaths, what would you need for that?
