Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

I try to figure out a GH script that can do the Quarter Isogrid which responsive design studio did before. However his download link is broken and he does not reply message anymore.

I try to understand how he did the notch on the wafflers. I learnt 2 methods from youtube. One is like what Victor Leung did http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/a-solid-waffle-for-laser . another way is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT9Z_tPww1E. The second way is only apply for square waffle. I tried Victor's method, but it require too much calculation and make my computer crash every time run it.

Then I tried intersection of Brep (BBX) it only returns the intersection line in the middle. like the picture shows.

Anybody please teach me how to do the notch.

Have a try "Bowerbird" plug-in.

this plug-in is great but only can do the square waffle. it can not do the quarter isogrid.

If so, then  it's a bit annoying, but you have to make it yourself.

Thank you Hyungsoo. Now I understand how the notch get cut. Sorry to keep bother you. but I get another problem.

I need add some ribs around the outside such as the following picture shows. I got this geometry, but I don't know how should I use the Orient function to put those ribs in a list as other slices. This is kind of like the lampshade you made. Another question is how can I create the horizontal slice? It looks like they found a surface that slice the geometry in the middle and flatten it.

Thank you very much!

정말 감사합니다

Check Attachment.

You'll need "TTToolbox" plug-in.

Note that your text tags are likely to be pretty much useless because your laser cutting machine might not be able to recognize them.

I'd recommend you to use Fabtool's "Engrave Text" component.

Thank you! you really helped me a lot.
