Grasshopper

generative modeling for Rhino

Hey,

I am looking for a way to control numerous points within rhino, created through grasshopper which is influenced by various factors. The points move in real time through the kangaroo plugin, currently using Uforce.

The situation is set up so that two points move away from each other in opposite directions, once the distance between them reaches a value, then the vector influencing the points is switched to another vector, thus moving the points back towards each other.

My current problem is that once the points reach a set distance, grasshopper appears to be not update, thus doesn’t realise such has occurred. Any ideas how to fix this? Simply how do I get grasshopper to recognize the distance is changing in Rhino? Thanks.

Could you post your def please?

There is a distance component, that you probably use to calculate the point's distance.

Kangaroo keeps track of all the Force and Geometry objects you put into it when you reset.

Exchanging one force for another would need another reset... but when you change the input to one and the same force, kangaroo should notice.

Then again, a spring with a resting length set to your threshold distance would do what you want without any switching neccessary.

Interesting, have a look at my def, see what you think. The problem is I have two statements, which one only becomes true when the simulation is running. I though it might need a null value but I am not sure.
