What terms commonly define algorythms that populate and morph patterns to weighted points and larger nodes? Maybe they are attractors??

Increases in intensity at certain points and nodes: Example of where it happens in human nature; in the activity of air transport.

Looks like a network connectivity diagram.  Nathan Miller posted something similar for his Facebook network

Do you know comparable terminology for algorythms that can be used as attractors for patterns based on natural or organic data?
