Grasshopper calculation time

I'm working on a definition for lighting studies and I've noticed a significant delay(6 seconds vs 3) in the calculation time when grasshopper's preview is turned on, even if the preview is turned off for all of the individual components. When the overall grasshopper preview is disabled the calculation time is consistent with the solution time displayed at the bottom of the window(the shorter time).

Has anyone else run into issues with this? (I can't post the files associated with the issue)
