Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am finding myself in need of something similar to the rhino extend curve on surface function that you can find in rhino but it looks like there is no obvious solution in grasshopper.

Might there be a method for this buried in rhino-common? I've looked and not found anything (but that doesn't necessarily indicate much since 60% of the time i have little idea of what i'm looking at)

If not i anticipate that the algorithm to implement it at a low level would be fairly mind bending indeed. In the case it is not easy get/make i would humbly request david add the feature in the future.

Hey guys, I see the post is pretty old but actually I'm finding difficulties with my current solution and I need this component. I'm looking forward to a reply for any indication, at the moment I'm checking the possibilities to do it with python even if I don't know how to use it.

Thanks

I found what you can see in the attached image on the website http://4.rhino3d.com/5/rhinocommon/ and I think it will do the job but I don't know how to make it become a working element on grasshopper. Can somebody rescue me pls?

Thanks Tom! It works in this particular case but at the moment I'm dealing with trimmed surfaces and I'm searching for the same command we can use on Rhino. I solved the problem shattering the resulting curves with the actual edges of the surface and selecting the one I'm interested, later I will post the solution.

Yep you're right... would it be too much asking to implement an output in your C# component with the "trimmed" curve result?

Nope, I mean if you could modify your component and add the pulled curves on the trimmed surface as output together with the curves extended on the untrimmed surface. This to simplify the life of our future friends :D

The last one, the good one!!! Amazing man, thank you very much! The purpose was only to save time and confusion to all the users that can be confused by the shatter/pull solution
