It's definitely a bug, that should have worked. It's been a while though since I looked at the parser code, this might take a while to track down.

Good grief... every string literal that contained a single opening bracket was treated as a function argument block. So even:

 

x & "("

 

failed to solve. I fixed it and hope I didn't break anything else.

 

This explains why "(+" worked fine, as it's different from "("
