Curve grid, select cells and extrude them with different heights

There is no default component for finding regions in between curves, but GeometryGym has a component for this I think. http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym

It is possible to split a surface with curves ("Surface Split" in the Intersect Tab, Physical panel) which may be of help though.
