Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all,

I'm looking to create forms (static) from video in a effort to explore biomimicry through motion rather than structure. I have some video of ducks drinking and I'd like to translate it into a 3D form (aka the form their mouths make). I'm looking at using Maya to just sculpt on top of stills and using the keyframe function to morph the video still after still, but I wondered if anyone had thoughts on how this might be done with rhino/grasshopper? Can I use color of pixels and trace them through time somehow? Does anyone know of module that interfaces with video input?

Thank you!

For that kind of stuff we are talking subdivision modeling AND key framed "kinematics" (so called "bones").

The best app by 1M miles for that (available to public) is Modo. Each object/assembly/action/tool in Modo can accept key framed animation ... but the stunning part is the way that user is informed about what's happening (the most clever thing that I've ever seen in any CAD app - not a big surprise since Modo comes straight from the US movie industry).

Maya is "OK" but not on par by any means. R/GH are totally unsuitable.
