Changing Line Directions Midway Using Surface Divide Points

Hi, using Surface Divide (or any other method), I'm  looking for a way to produce curves as in the figure below - I'm stumped. Thanks.

Guess I wasn't as stumped as I thought; all I needed to do was try, unsuccessfully, to go to sleep.
