there are many ways to get it. I have got one based on intersections and some bezier curves. I love beszier curves.
There are easier solutions. And of course some more mathematically. Have a lok at this post:

Maybe later I will give it a try. I guess with bezier curves it is getting difficult, but with interpolated curves it will work, maybe :-)
