generative modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
I have a weird problem with the new version of grasshopper. I have installed the Microsoft thingy and grasshopper 0.8.0051. I am getting the attached error message and I cannot load grasshopper anymore!
Rhino is unable to load DLL "rhcommon_c"
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
Best,
Pirouz

Hi Pirouz,
are you running this in Rhino4 or Rhino5?

I have Rhino 4.0 SR 9, 12_Aug_2010 (last updated); and I have windows XP professional, version 2002, Service Pack3.
Thanks for your care and support.

Peculiar... let's make sure the dll is actually there, then figure out why it isn't loading.
Can you find a file called rhcommon_c.dll in your Grasshopper install folder? Can you post a screenshot of where you found it?

Permalink Reply by Pirouz Nourian on September 24, 2011 at 9:23am Yes David, it is there. I have attached the screen shot of its place. BTW, I just re installed Rhino to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. However, before installation I chose the option repair for the .NET framework. Perhaps I should have chosen delete and re-install!
I'm still getting the same error message!
Permalink Reply by Pirouz Nourian on September 24, 2011 at 9:44am Strange! I just made a copy of the missing DLL from the second location into the main grasshopper folder and it worked out and I am working with GH now.
However, I wanna let you know that there is still a minor warning (as seen in the attached image) I get before loading GH. After I press Yes, it opens up a 'windows form application' for a moment and then the empty form disappears. The only clue I have is that once I had created a form application in C# in an attempt for developing a Rhino Plugin. May be I've done something wrong at that time, like leaving a dll in a wrong location or displacing a folder. Perhaps you can prevent others from doing the same mistake.
Thank you very much for your time,
Pirouz
