Hmm, first I could repeat it, now I can't. Something fishy is going on.

Does it work after you've opened the View menu?

I think the problem was that when the Zoom menu was last opened while there were no selected objects, it wouldn't work. It's actually a rather deep bug that affected all similar cases of menu items becoming disabled on submenus. It's fixed now.
