When importing *.3dm files in GH, it would be great if the filter feature would feed a value list automatically and mainly would make use of full layer names.

Right now you need to know the layer structure of a file and without bijective layer name structure, filtering a single layer might be impossible.

Of course this can be done with custom code but from my point of view, the import *.3dm component would make much more sense with full layer names.

I typically use long file names with suffixes to comply with internal procedures.

This means that I generally can't tell one file from another in Grasshopper's "Latest files" quick launch widget, nor in the "Open files list" on the upper right corner.

This makes the task of picking a file similar to a lotery.

I wish that the complete file name was displayed like a tooltip when the cursor is over the file's rectangle.

Cheers,

Oddly enough Rhino does not allow multiple entries for "SelName" when using the command line version.

Unfortunately, GrassHopper doesn't seem to help here.

I can see that a name "filter" can be entered in the geometry pipeline component, but again just one name.

In particular, I would like to select a bunch of cells in Excel which contain strings and select the Rhino objects with the names corresponding to these strings.

I know that it could be scripted, but then it becomes cumbersome to edit the script and change the path of the Excel file, and define which cells you want to use.

I'm thinking of something more interactive...Any ideas ?

Hi

I'm wondering if there is a way to quickly catch the current rhino file name, preferably including full path, but not necessarily.

I have several simulations done by 3rd party programme and I'm using the same GH definition file to visualize the results, so I would like to automaticly link to the right results file.

I know how to cheat and get/put a name/ID + Prefix on an object (for Fab ).

But there must be a way for how to do this in a clean GH def.

If someone has an idea.
Are there certain restrictions to assign layernames if baking objects?

Using Giulio´s BakeWithAttributes GH will avoid baking objects at all. The Lunchbox component will create the layers, but assigns all objects to the currently selected layer.
